Shorty beds

Shorty beds are shorter than a standard single so they fit box rooms and awkward alcoves. There is no single shorty size, so the mattress and the frame’s full footprint both need checking.

Prices and availability come from each retailer’s product feed or listing and were last checked 28 September 2026. They can change at any time — the retailer’s site is always the final word. We don’t show Amazon prices; follow the link to see the current price. Featured order favours listings with more options and fuller details; it isn’t a quality ranking and no retailer pays for placement.

Listings we’ve compared in detail

We compared these against the retailer listing and, where available, the manufacturer’s instructions — including the full footprint, ladder and mattress. Missing figures stay marked as not confirmed.

Shorty beds: measure the frame, then match the mattress

How to compare shorter beds without confusing mattress size and the space the bed occupies.

Shorty is not one standard size

Choose by exact centimetres, not the word shorty. The checked Hoppekids daybed takes a 70 × 160cm mattress, while the Bea shorty listing specifies 75 × 175cm. ShortyBeds also lists several other lengths. A mattress that fits one short bed will not necessarily fit another.

Use the complete footprint

A 160cm mattress does not mean a 160cm-long bed: the checked Hoppekids frame is listed at 169cm long and 79cm wide. Measure your available space and include skirting, furniture, door movement and access. For raised beds, use the width including the ladder. We leave a model out of fit results when that measurement is unresolved.

Check the configuration before ordering

Confirm the exact bed, mattress dimensions, any depth limit and whether drawers or conversion modules are included. A drawer also needs room to open. A shorter mattress does not make a raised bed suitable for a younger child: follow the age and assembly requirements for the actual model. Ask the retailer to resolve conflicting measurements before relying on them.

Before you buy

What to check on any shorty bed

  • Common shorty mattresses are 75 × 175cm, but other short sizes exist — match the mattress to the frame.
  • Compare the frame’s external length and width, not the mattress size.
  • Ladders, steps and headboards can add to the footprint.
